LYNX Athletes Are Crushing It 🐾
Race season is officially underway, and we’re excited to share some incredible stories from our LYNX community. From epic endurance challenges to podium finishes and provincial records, our athletes continue to demonstrate what consistency, grit, and passion can achieve.
Those early morning and late evening swims, cold winter runs and endless trainer rides, are paying off in a big way. Our community continues to inspire us every day, and these recent performances are proof that the journey is worth it.
Natalie Takes on the BC Backyard Ultra
If you’ve never heard of the BC Backyard Ultra, it’s equal parts endurance race, strategy, and mental battle.
The concept sounds simple: complete a 6.67 km loop every hour, on the hour. Finish early? You get the remaining time to rest before the next loop begins. Miss the start whistle? You’re done. The race continues until only one person remains.
LYNX athlete Natalie recently tackled this unique event, completing an incredible 80 km and shared just how wild the experience was.

“It all comes down to pacing, muscular strength, mental strength, and the ability to eat snacks,” she joked.
As the hours wore on, her crew support made all the difference. By her later laps, her team was meeting her at the start line armed with watermelon and salty noodles to keep her going.
What stood out most was the atmosphere:
“The atmosphere was incredibly positive. Everyone starts together, top of the hour, and the course has multiple turnarounds so you are always running with someone. There was always time and opportunity to chat with someone new. Super supportive with everyone encouraging ‘one more lap’.”
And perhaps the best part was that it was “super fun”. Her verdict: next year, 100 km or bust!

We absolutely love the spirit, determination, and adventure behind this race effort. Well done Natalie! 👏
Monica Wins the Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run 10k 🥇
Huge congratulations to Monica, who captured the win at the Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run 10 km with an incredible time of 39 minutes!

Monica shared what it felt like to experience racing from the front of the pack:
“What an incredible experience getting a taste of what the elite athletes undergo — having a videographer on an electric scooter filming you as you run; all the women on the other side of the out-and-back seeing that you are the first female wildly cheering you on; having race staff on the sidelines radioing in your bib number to the finish line telling them the first female is coming; and that unbelievable moment getting to run through the banner!”

What an amazing performance and an unforgettable race day experience. We are so proud to celebrate this exciting win with you, Monica! 🙌
Catherine Sets a Provincial Masters Record 🏊♀️
Another huge congratulations goes out to LYNX member Catherine, who set a Masters Provincial Record last month in the women’s 70–74, 1500m freestyle in a time of 28:13.79.

This is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to years of dedication, consistency, and passion for swimming.
And the momentum didn’t stop there. This past weekend, Catherine competed at the 2026 Speedo Canadian Masters Championships in Windsor, Ontario and came home with an incredible set of results. She earned silver medals in the 400 and 800 metre freestyle and two bronze medals — including an impressive 27:52 in the 1500 metre freestyle, breaking her own provincial record!

An absolutely phenomenal weekend of racing. Congratulations, Catherine — your LYNX family was cheering you on from afar! 🐾
