The Tool Shed Duathlon on June 5th is just over 2 weeks away! We are set to welcome athletes of all levels for a unique duathlon set at the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds. Beer and pretzels post race with some great music and chill atmosphere.

What a great morning at @rnrpremierevents Rise Up What a great morning at @rnrpremierevents Rise Up Tri!  Heat 4 ladies were all smiles from start to finish in what was a very first triathlon experience for most of them. 

They each completed a 10 minute swim, 20 minute ride and 15 min run.  Congratulations to all finishers! 👏 🙌 👏

👉 Today was a women only event but next Sunday, same time, same place, is the inaugural Co-Ed edition!  Give it a tri! 😉

The Rise Up Indoor Triathlon is a triathlon for all abilities!

Divided into heats, you will have 10 minutes to swim as many laps as you can (any stroke) in the pool, 20 minutes to bike on a stationary bike with a coach leading you through a course, and then 15 minutes to walk or run as many laps as you can on the track. 

Register in the heat you want so you can participate with friends. 

April 3rd is the all women’s event with finishers receiving a gorgeous finisher’s bracelet you can always wear and remember your accomplishment.

👉 However, facilities can choose to keep masking requirements in place. If you are swimming with LYNX at MRU for example, masking in shared spaces is required until the end of their winter term on April 30.

Five reasons why you should watch out for over reaching:

1️⃣ If your arms drop flat into the water it will create turbulence, creating drag and putting on the breaks.
2️⃣ No good start for a catch, the water is first pushed down.
3️⃣ Arms reaching up meaning inbalance and lower body is sinking. ⚖️ 
4️⃣ Less connection with hip
5️⃣ Puts the arm and the shoulder in an awkward position.

Keeping a still head in freestyle! 

The head acts like a boat rudder and your body will follow the direction/angle of the head. 

Practice at home: rotate your body in front of a mirror and try to keep your nose still. Then try in the pool. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

This skill will keep you aligned, decrease drag, get you faster and you will not swim extra meters.

Working on my swim. Sometimes I feel like I’m doing a Lionel Sanders impression every year saying the same thing, but he seems to have made it work and making strides so I better get my butt in gear.

Things I’m doing to work on it:
💙
1) Swim analysis with Mary at @lynxtriathlon 
- Sometimes what you think you are doing in the water is drastically different than what you are actually doing. Getting video feedback really highlighted things I could work on for efficiency. The funny part is when I thought I made massive changes to my arm movement to a ridiculous degree really it moved over an inch 😝

2) Trying to swim with other people once in a while. I train solo 99.9% of the time and it’s good to get out of the comfort zone and train with others to stay engaged and push a little more. 
💙
3) Core strength I’ve been doing more core work for the @endurancefitapp and even with all the down time from swimming late last year and sporadic swimming since my baseline swim at the swim analysis was than it had ever been before. The difference in my swim paces with and without a pull buoy are decreasing because my body position is better with a stronger core to hold my legs up.

So new focus, new excitement to have something specific to work on. Let’s do this. How cute is this Canadian swimsuit from @triitmultisport ?? So comfortable.
