Many races have been cancelled this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic but did you know that Ironman 70.3 Calgary has not been cancelled but instead been postponed to September 5, 6, & 7, 2020?

Here is some information from the Ironman 70.3 Calgary Facebook page:

“During this pandemic we all have concerns and questions about how a race can go forward. Our dedicated staff of 11 years and team of volunteers are working with local officials and Ironman on the logistics of managing a mass participation event with social distancing protocols. Multiple heats, zones limiting the number of participants, extended transition racks, rolling swim starts and restructuring the post-race festivities are some of the measures that will ensure we have a safe race.” ~Race Director Cheryl Lowery

It can be hard to stay motivated and focused when you don’t have a target race on the horizon. This race is a great way to inject some focus and purpose back into your training!

Need some training guidance?

Interested in this race but unsure how to structure your training? LYNX has a 12 week online training plan to help get you to the start line. The plan begins on Monday June 15 and ends on race weekend. You will have your own account in Final Surge where you will receive weekly swim (when pools are open), bike, run, & strength sessions. You will have access within this platform to log your training and interact with a NCCP certified triathlon coach. Coach oversight adds a layer of accountability to your training and serves as a resource to answer your training questions along the way. At this point no swim sessions will be slotted in the plan but that will change if swimming venues open up.

Whether you decide to officially sign up for this event or just want some structure for your training over the next 12 weeks, this training plan will provide you with great training focus. The cost for the plan is $99 / month for 3 months.

Contact coaches@lynxtriathlon.ca if you would like to sign up for the training plan.

Stay safe and active!
